Better late than never!

My name is Venus and I cannot resist washi tape. Oh those glorious rolls of pretty patterns and mouth watering colors. As much as I say NO MORE WASHI, I always give in and yesterday was no exception. I had missed out on the Valentine washi tape from Dollar Tree (I actually only found 3 of the patterns) and even though I really don't like Easter decor - I wanted to check out what styles they currently had in stock. All of the Easter tapes were in stock (of course those were), so I picked up 1 roll of bunnies (that's gonna last me years!), 1 roll of spring polka dots and 1 roll of the spring chevron. I headed over to the stationery section and GOLD MINE! The washi was fully stocked! I picked up the hearts, rainbow polka dots on black, spring diagonal lines and black/white paisley (or as I like to call it "old school gangster"). There were tons of others available including: happy faces, patriotic stars, cheetah, bright patterns, etc... but as much as I love washi tape, I am also super picky so I passed on the rest of the designs. I also ran into Target yesterday to pick up some household odds and ends. Along the way, I stopped at the stationery section and found them totally expanding it! My eyes were able to peak at a wider selection of scrapbook, a whole new section of craft paint and oh wait, what?! MORE WASHI TAPE. Fortunately (for me), I was in a hurry and didn't notice anything super new but walls were being blocked off for incoming merchandise! Anyway, my eyes spotted these white/gold page clips and they were in my grubby little monster hands before I could even blink. At $3.95 for this set, I couldn't resist. Over the weekend I also got my package from Joann.com! This baby was jam packed Martha Stewart Halloween ribbon, some gorgeous Project Life Halloween cards and washi tape: 4 rolls of Halloween washi, 1 roll of gold foil St. Patrick's day and I stocked up on the mint/silver dots. All of these were more than 50% off & a coupon code making all of this around 10$ with free shipping! Next post I will be sharing my new Dokibook (aka fake Kikki K planner) and all the little fun stationery items that came with that beauty! Love - ^v^ A couple of weekends ago I had the total pleasure of heading out to the Halloween Club's 3rd annual Spook Show and here's the blog post to prove it.... FINALLY! I will shamefully admit right here and now, I have never attended one of their Spook Shows before but after this experience I am screaming from the haunted mountain tops: " LOVED IT!". Even walking through the parking lot was an adventure thanks to all the hearses lined up. It's always a thing of glory to see Phantom Coaches and all their beautiful funeral rides on display. Let me start by saying that I have attended many many MANY horror conventions and Halloween type craft fairs, but this was hands down the most organized event I've ever been to. Oh and did I mention it was FREE! The line to get in took awhile to get moving and it was HOT, (and I was near the front so that wait wasn't as insane for me as it was for others) but never fear - The Halloween Club attendants handed out free bottles of water to everyone in line. Although the event was free, you did have to register on Event Brite and then check-in to enter. This was also kinda neat because once you checked in, you received a badge holder with a VIP badge and trick or treat candy - and even though everyone got this, it was just a really nice personal touch. Each person took an official Spook Show photo and received a 40% - 80% off coupon inside the Halloween Club store. Once inside the Spook Show, the booths were set up perfectly in my opinion. As a craft fair veteran, I love when parallel booths have tons of space in between - not only does this help my social anxiety, but it allows foot traffic to flow nicely and makes for a happy shopping adventure. Besides artists, crafters and bakers - the Spook Show featured a performance stage and had food trucks PLUS tons of seating to rest weary feet. This was nice because (I mentioned it before and I will probably mention it again) it was freaking hot! It seems while everyone on my Instagram is up to their neck in snow; we Californian ghouls were up to our necks in sweat! The hardest thing about attending these shows is resisting the urge to buy everything! I know from years of craft booth experience, that all of the vendors put their blood, sweat and tears into this and I want to support them all. Couldn't make it? That's okay! Check out my gallery below: All in all the 3rd annual Spook Show was a much needed kick in the spirit of keeping Halloween alive 365 days a year. This one definitely inspired me and made me miss doing craft fairs so badly. A super huge THANK YOU to Halloween Club for putting on this well-organized and fun-filled event! I am totally counting my spooky blessings that I live in a place where these happy haunts happen throughout the year. Whether I am shopping or vending there, I will definitely see all you monsters next year! |
